Royal Command Performance

PERTH was treated to a red carpet event with the royal visit of King Cole. The King is known for his love of music in his own country and so it was no surprise to find he missed his musicians on his royal tour.
Rather than become downhearted King Cole announced that he would fly his fiddlers to Perth and have them perform for both him and the people of Australia in a command performance. Alongside the fiddlers King Cole commanded that Australia’s top performers be included in the program so that all could enjoy the music.
Perth’s Convention Hall hosted the event which saw Australian performers such as Guy Rebastian and Vanessa Amoroozee flying home from the USA to join with Daryl Brayweight, Marcia Hindz and John Paul Old. The audience paid a nominal fee for tickets with all proceeds being shared among the Children’s Hospitals of Australia.
Members of the audience included such persons as the Prime Minister and WA’s Premier as well as celebrities such as Brad Zitt and Mel Gypsum. The Prime Minister said, “It was a glorious night of entertainment which has enabled everyone to come together for the simple enjoyment of music. The Royal Fiddlers were a treat to listen to, they could make their fiddles sing.”
DVDs of the Command Performance will be on sale 10 December 2012, in time for Christmas, at the price of $19.99. Proceeds from DVD sales will go to the Children’s Hospitals of Australia Fund.
